Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia made perhaps the most influential couple of their time. The one single movie that shot them to fame: Bobby and the one song from that movie that I loved: “Main shayar to nahi”.
You know, we all wish (or have wished at some point in life!) that we meet that one single person whose presence in your life makes it worth living. Worth all the troubles, hassles, adjustments, compromises and hard work. Infact these words even cease to exist when you are running the race of life together – or should I say
celebrating the phenomenon called ‘life’ together! Many have felt the feeling felt only when you meet that special person. People say they hear violins play, the breeze kicks in, some sort of aroma in the air, the sky turning a certain color .. as many imaginations as there are brains! If even often happens that you begin doing things you never you knew you were even good at!
I never knew I was good (or modestly speaking fairly well off) at cooking until I attempted to cook something for my girlfriend! Hadn’t she been there, I’d probably be eating off other’s talents even today! Somebody probably realized they could dance well, someone could sing, someone could .. ahem .. well let’s say study well because they did it for someone.
Our hero here, Mr. Kapoor, was apparently a bad poet but it was the charm of Miss Kapadia that turned him into one. And quite a good one too!
So this song goes out to all the good singers, good dancers, good chefs .. basically to all those who learned to be good at something for someone!
I was watching “Hum Tum” a few days ago. If you guys remember, Rishi Kapoor plays Saif’s father in the movie. At the part where he is introduced, he is seen sitting in a pub playing this song. The reprise track is sung by Abhijeet and Udit Narayan. Something about the song caught my attention – the base. Beautifully composed! That’s when I felt like making an instrumental out of it – with the base. Now you know the main feature of the song, so I really hope you have good bass sensitive headphones to enjoy the deep base I’ve put in it .. and yes .. I almost forgot .. there is one part in my track that does not belong to this song .. lets see how many of you can spot that part!
