“mai koi aisa geet gaaun”

The singer Abhijeet really did have a very nice soft and melodious voice, but he suddenly disappeared from the bollywood scenario. I believe the latest song that he lent his voice to was from the movie Om Shanti Om which was a 2007 release. That’s quite a long hibernation .. but then again .. many singers have been known to have gone into ridiculously long hibernations and make sudden appearances years later. The track I’ve made this time belongs to the era when Abhijeet career was at it’s peak. This was the time when he was almost the default choice for any SRK feature.  And to top it the music for this movie was by Jatin-Lalit – masters or romantic music!

The first impression of the song is that of absolute relaxation. I mean .. you can really picture yourself taking a nice little evening walk with your girlfriend as you hum this tune. Or may be sing it to your wife who’s cross because you’re late from work! So the beats and the instruments chosen for the song are of soft and melodious kind. Flute, bells, soft rhythm pad and a processed piano for the main lead. I have stepped a little away from the original song in one context. I have introduced slap bass which is not used in the original. The slap bass helps carry the rhythm and does the job of filling up the low frequency blanks. You will notice that there is heavy usage of strings pad (violins) for most parts of music 1 and 2. Typically Jatin-Lalit .. wouldn’t you say? 🙂

All in all .. a simple song for a simple mood .. however .. the person you dedicate it to may or may not be as simple .. but that’s a risk we all run .. don’t we?? 😉
